Interesting data has recently emerged from the Ethereum network. According to on-chain statistics, although Gas fees are currently at historic lows and transaction costs seem to be significantly cheaper, the network activity has actually increased. On January 16th, the number of active addresses in a single day surpassed 1.2 million, which is already a record high.
This phenomenon is quite worth pondering. A decrease in Gas fees usually indicates reduced network congestion, but the record high number of active addresses suggests that although congestion has eased, the number of users participating in the network has not decreased; instead, it is increasing. This may reflect an expanding user base or that users are more willing to interact on-chain in a low-fee environment. Whatever the case, this is a positive sign of the vitality of the Ethereum ecosystem.
