Telegram scam new tactics exposed: "Friend reminder" may be a hacked account, your wallet is being targeted

Abstract generation in progress

Recently, a carefully designed full-chain scam has been trending on Telegram, and many users are falling victim. The cunning of this scam lies in its approach—targeting the most trusted person in your life—your friend.

How the Scam Unfolds

Imagine receiving a message from a friend: “Your Telegram account has been flagged for fraud.” They even send a screenshot, and you nervously see the familiar red fraud label appear next to your account. In a panic, you try to contact your friend for help—at this moment, the “friend” offers a solution: use a Telegram Bot called “SpnzonBot” to remove the flag.

But this is a trap set by the scam group. Your “friend” has actually had their account compromised, and “SpnzonBot” is not an official tool at all. It is a malicious program carefully disguised as “Spam Info Bot” (Telegram’s official spam reporting bot).

A Three-Link Chain of Deception

First Link: Friend’s Account Compromised
The scam group has already taken control of your friend’s Telegram account. Because the message appears to come from someone you trust, your alertness drops significantly.

Second Link: Fake “Fraud Flag” Screenshot
In the screenshot sent by your friend, you can indeed see the fraud label next to your account—how is this achieved? A close look reveals that the screenshot comes from “Nicegram,” an unofficial Telegram client. Nicegram supports managing unlimited accounts on a single device, which is the secret behind the scam group’s ability to control numerous Telegram accounts at scale.

Third Link: Malicious Bot Takes Over
When you anxiously connect to “SpnzonBot,” your wallet address, private keys, personal authentication data, and more could be stolen. This is the most deadly step of the entire scam.

How to Detect Telegram Scams

When you receive an unusual message from a friend, do not rush to click any links. Use other communication methods (such as WhatsApp, Signal, or SMS) to actively contact your friend and confirm whether the message truly came from them.

When dealing with unfamiliar or suspicious Telegram Bots, never authorize them to connect to your wallet, and do not provide any private keys, seed phrases, or personal identification information. Official Bots will never proactively request these sensitive details.

Key Reminders

Telegram scams are constantly evolving, but their core principle is always about exploiting trust and urgency. Remember: genuine official tools do not operate this way, and abnormal behavior from friends often indicates their accounts have been compromised. Protect your TG wallet and personal data by maintaining a healthy dose of suspicion whenever faced with unfamiliar requests.
