U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reiterated at the Davos World Economic Forum the Trump administration's commitment to making the United States a leader in cryptocurrency innovation and to establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve. He stated that the policy is to stop selling confiscated Bitcoin and to add it to the reserve after confiscation, which is consistent with the executive order signed by President Trump in 2025. Bessent also mentioned that legislative work is underway to regulate the cryptocurrency industry and to bring digital asset innovation "back to the United States."
