Boundless team is the team behind the zero-knowledge proof network launched by the RISC Zero platform. They have developed a cross-chain verification system that enables Bitcoin to serve as a settlement and verification layer for compute-intensive zero-knowledge proofs. The system initially connects Ethereum and Base to Bitcoin, leveraging the BitVM framework and Citrea ZK-rollup to anchor complex computations onto Bitcoin without modifying its core protocol. CEO Shiv Shankar emphasized that their goal is not to turn Bitcoin into Ethereum, but to use Bitcoin as the "ultimate verification and settlement layer" for zero-knowledge proofs, to meet the growing demand for a more robust and neutral settlement layer for rollups.
