Abstract generation in progress

Domino’s Pizza has introduced an innovative approach to contactless pizza delivery by launching its Carside Delivery program nationwide. This new service allows customers to receive their orders without leaving their vehicles, addressing growing consumer demand for safer food transactions during health crises.

The Contactless Pizza Delivery Experience

The contactless delivery model works through a streamlined digital process. Customers begin by placing a prepaid order online and selecting the carside delivery option at checkout. The system then prompts them to provide their vehicle’s color, make, and model—information used by store staff to locate customers upon arrival. Users can specify delivery locations including the passenger side, back seat, or trunk, with the flexibility to decide upon arrival.

Once at the location, customers activate the delivery by tapping “I’m here” on Domino’s Tracker or texting “HERE” to the store’s opt-in messaging system. A team member then brings the order directly to the vehicle, eliminating the need for in-person contact.

Operating Hours and Availability

The contactless pizza delivery service operates between 4 pm and 9 p.m. across participating U.S. locations, though hours vary by store. Dennis Maloney, Domino’s senior vice president-chief innovation officer, emphasized that the service represents the company’s commitment to customer choice: “Whether through traditional carryout or delivery, we’re focused on providing hot meals exactly as customers prefer them. Carside delivery offers both convenience and safety.”

Industry Response to Health Concerns

The restaurant sector, representing the second-largest private employment base in America, faced unprecedented challenges that accelerated adoption of alternative service models. Sales and employment declines rippled through the industry following pandemic-related closures. In response, various pizza chains introduced similar initiatives—competing brands launched curbside pickup options and implemented tamper-proof safety seals on food packaging to address consumer safety concerns.

These contactless pizza delivery innovations reflect broader market recognition that customer safety and convenience have become primary differentiators in food service operations.
