U.S. stocks plummeted yesterday. As I mentioned a few days ago, the uncertainty caused by the trade war led to market sell-offs and a flight to safety.
Trump's usual tactic is to start with an impossible demand, then apply extreme pressure, then negotiate gradually, and finally reach a deal.
The U.S. Constitution requires congressional approval to declare war or invade other countries (that's why the U.S. Army hasn't set foot on Venezuelan territory; Trump was playing a close call). Given the current public opinion in the U.S., it’s difficult to reach a consensus on military intervention. So it’s back to the trade war, throwing grenades at each other. Let the bullets fly a little longer, and let the Greenland dispute drag on for a while, watching the tiger fight from the mountain. The most profitable strategy in the U.S. stock market last year was trading TACO—Trump Always Chicken Out. Keep cash ready and strike when the market panics.
