Mask Network plans to popularize Lens Protocol through X) Twitter(. In 2022, Mask Network expanded into socialFi by acquiring the second-largest server from the decentralized social media platform Mastodon.
Lens Protocol is a decentralized social media platform launched in early 2022 by Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave), aiming to be an Ethereum-based Twitter. Kulechov explained, “We built Lens Protocol and an on-chain data storage system so developers can create applications for mainstream users.” Within a year of its launch, Lens has grown to support over 110,000 social media profiles and hundreds of applications.
Farcaster(, a socialFi project similar to Lens Protocol, has ceased development of its decentralized social media and shifted focus to wallet services. Farcaster co-founder Dan Romero stated, “We tried social media for over four years but did not succeed.”
