Japanese investors are an important part of the US market: according to data from the Bank of Japan, as of the end of 2024, Japan's holdings of US bonds and stocks totaled $2.22 trillion. Secondly, investments in the Cayman Islands, France, and the UK amounted to $834 billion, $179 billion, and $150 billion respectively. In other words, Japan's dependence on the US is twice as high as its overall dependence on these three countries. Additionally, in the third quarter of 2025, Japanese investors' overseas assets increased to $4.95 trillion, approaching a record high. Meanwhile, they held $2.54 trillion in stocks and investment fund shares, and $2.41 trillion in debt.
