According to decrypt, citing the latest declassified emails from the U.S. Department of Justice, the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein invested $3 million in Coinbase in 2014, valuing the company at approximately $400 million. The emails show that Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam was aware of and involved in the related communications. The investment was facilitated by Brock Pierce and his venture capital firm Blockchain Capital, with funds channeled through Epstein-controlled entity IGO Company LLC. The documents also reveal that Epstein repurchased half of his Coinbase shares in 2018, earning about $15 million; the whereabouts of the remaining shares have not been disclosed.
