A law from 1798 has become President Trump's current trump card. The Supreme Court just approved by a 5-4 vote the use of the Foreign Enemies Act by President Trump. What does this mean? It means the president has broad wartime powers. He can immediately begin deporting illegal immigrants from hostile countries, especially gang members. Venezuelan gangs, like the "Aragua Train," will be directly sent to a massive prison in El Salvador. Previously, District Judge Bursberg halted the deportation actions. But now, the Supreme Court has directly overturned his decision. Behind this are two forces at play. One tries to tie up executive power through judicial procedures to protect everyone entering the United States, regardless of their background. The other prioritizes national security and sovereignty, believing the president has constitutional authority to defend the borders. This ruling is not only a victory for Trump but also a clear declaration of executive power. It also raises a deeper question. In a sovereign country, where exactly are the boundaries of the president's authority to protect national security? When the country faces external threats, what role should the judicial system play? Is it the brake or the scythe? Additionally, the Supreme Court confirmed the president's control over federal funds. He has the authority to decide how the executive branch spends and cuts its budget. This means projects that waste taxpayers' money or conflict with American interests will face stricter scrutiny. The battle over legal interpretation has always been a barometer of political winds.
