AI/LLM bring the biggest change to the software development industry by elevating skill levels. In the past, foundational and low-level development tasks were handled by junior or mid-level engineers, who fought on the front lines, pulling all-nighters to gain experience and earn points. After 3-5 years, they reach the level of senior engineers, focusing on complex issues and higher-level abstract design of software systems. They continue to earn points at this stage. After 5-10 years, these engineers begin to take responsibility for large system architecture design and team management. At this point, they are called architects. These architects focus on top-level (abstract layer) design, creating the entire software architecture and organizing teams based on that architecture. After the advent of AI/LLM, a small number of senior engineers within organizations are replaced by AI/LLM, and these senior engineers also possess architecture skills. Today, architects' most important abilities extend beyond system architecture to include team leadership and management skills. Therefore, the group most affected by AI/LLM among programmers is the early and mid-level developers.
