On January 7th, U.S. President Donald Trump directed the U.S. government to withdraw from 66 international organizations and treaties. This includes the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). This move clearly demonstrates the United States’ departure from the international cooperation framework based on multilateralism.

The Trump administration previously ignored international law by conducting military operations in Venezuela to secure oil supplies, signaling a policy shift toward pursuing “order through strength.”

On January 7th, Trump signed a memorandum instructing government agencies to initiate the withdrawal process from 31 United Nations agencies and related treaties, as well as 35 other international organizations.
