That Changed My Trading Forever — And Can Change Yours Too
When I first started trading, I thought it was just about buying low and selling high. Then one candlewick taught me a lesson no book ever could:
Trading isn't about charts. It's about human psychology disguised as price action.
Today, I'm sharing three real turning points that saved my account — and my sanity.
1️⃣ The Rule I Will Never Break Again
Never move your stop-loss lower to "give the trade more room."
I did this once. Just once. A trade went 2% against me. I moved the stop from -5% to -10%. Then to -15%. Then I watched my account bleed 40% in two hours — all because I couldn't admit I was wrong.
The fix: Set your stop before entering. If the trade hits it, you were wrong. Take the small cut and live to trade another day.
My Most Heartbreaking Trade — And What It Taught Me
The trade:
I was long on ETH right before a major Fed announcement. +12% in 30 minutes. Greed took over. Instead of taking profits, I doubled down. Then Powell spoke. Price crashed 18% in 90 seconds. I went from +12% to -25% and got liquidated.
The lesson:
Bulls make money, bears make money, but pigs get slaughtered.
What I do now:
· Always take partial profits (30–50%) into strength
· Never add to a winning position after 8–10% move without a fresh setup
· Respect news events like they're landmines
If I Could Go Back to Day One…
I would look young me in the eyes and say:
"You don't need to trade every day. You need to trade only your best setups."
Advice I'd give my beginner self:
· Start with a demo account for 3 months — not 3 days
· Risk no more than 1–2% per trade
· Keep a trading journal. Write down why you entered AND why you exited
· Stop watching P&L. Start watching your process
· The market will always be there. Your capital may not be.
