Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Pakistan are developing missile delivery systems with nuclear and conventional warheads capable of striking U.S. territory. This is according to the annual threat assessment report from the U.S. intelligence community.

American intelligence materials indicate that the aforementioned countries are conducting research and development of "a full spectrum of new, advanced, and conventional" missile systems. According to the agency, there are currently more than 3,000 such missiles. By 2035, their number will exceed 16,000.

Five countries, including Russia, despite the proliferation of strike drones, are betting on the development of modern missile systems, the report states. However, intelligence believes that in the event of military conflict, missiles will likely be used together with cheaper expendable materials to overwhelm the U.S. air defense system.

The report's authors believe that over the next five years, Russia, China, and North Korea will continue to increase their missile potential and means of countering space systems.

Additionally, U.S. intelligence named Russia as the main rival of the United States in the Arctic. Moscow controls approximately half of the Arctic coastline and views the region as critically important for its security and economy, according to the report.
